Compare/Contrast - Thesis and Intro Paragraph

 

Title: Triumph and Tragedy

Thesis Sentence:  Mr. Escalantes and Mr. Keating loved teaching and showed that love by their humor, inspiration and their dedication to their students while facing the challenges of teaching in two different types of schools, in two different eras but had two different endings.

I.                   Introductory paragraph:  Mr. Escalantes and Mr. Keating were teaching in two different types of schools, in two different eras with a great desire to inspire their students to reach above their environment. Mr. Escalantes was teaching at an urban school in Las Angeles during the 1980’s and Mr. Keating was teaching a boys prep school in New England during the 1950’s.  Both of the teachers loved teaching and showed that through their humor, inspiration and dedication to their students while facing the challenges of teaching in two different types of schools and in different eras with two different endings.
